LiveWhale Calendar 3.2.1

This patch release includes bug fixes surrounding timezones, shared event series, and linked calendars. It also includes groundwork for upcoming features like CMS 3+, a supported Campus Groups integration, Universal Theming, and more.

Behavior adjustments

  • The USE_AP_STYLE=true reformatting of date outputs will now be skipped when a custom widget date format contains HTML markup.

Bugs

  • Fixed an issue (introduced in 3.0.1) that would cause event draft preview links to 404.
  • Fixed a few issues with shared repeating events: one that could cause events not to appear on the front-end of destination groups, and another that could cause event times to be wrong for shared series that cross the daylight savings time change.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the next instance of a repeating series to be skipped erroneously when hide_repeats=true.
  • Linked Calendars
    • Updated the calendar_feeds conversion script to preserve newlines inside of calendar feed data while converting to ICAL.
    • Added a notice to the event editor for events from hidden Linked Calendars (already suppressed from the manager list, but in case users find their way there), clarifying that the event will not appear on the front-end until its Linked Calendar is set to Live.
    • Fixed two timezone issues: one where linked calendar events could be imported with the wrong time zone depending on other data in the ICAL, and another where the back-end event list could show the wrong time zone abbreviation (EDT/EST, CDT/CST, PDT/PST) for dates outside the current daylight saving time season.
    • Fix a redirect case that could cause an incorrect http/https schema to be adopted for internal links (like Linked Calendar urls beginning with /live/).
  • Fixed an issue where CSV imports missing a group or gid column would always preview and import into the user’s home group, rather than the group the CSV import was executed in.
  • Fixed an issue where curly closing single quotes and apostrophes inside Content Layouts were converted to straight quotes when saving.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking a calendar category link, tag link, or the feed builder link caused an unnecessary redirect before the page loaded.
  • Fixed an issue where clicking a calendar filter whose name contains < or > would add it again instead of removing it.
  • Fixed an issue where RSVPs could be submitted with invalid registrant email addresses, causing SMTP email sending errors.

Developer options

  • Added timezone support for America/Vancouver to support the new permanent daylight savings time (UTC -7) in British Columbia.
  • Updated the responsive image generation code to disable itself if it detects multiple different image sources were applied via custom code to a single picture tag.
  • Using multiple <xphp var="theme">…</xphp> tags on a page is now additive (multiple themes get checked in order) rather than always using the last named theme. We expect this to have minimal-to-no impact on most themes. If you need to restore the prior behavior, you can add $_LW->CONFIG['ONLY_USE_LAST_THEME']=true; to your config file.

Behind-the-scenes

  • Updated the JS resource optimizer to not alter script tags containing a data- attribute.
  • Added ttclid to the ignored GET variables for site performance.
  • Added increased cache cleanup to prevent large numbers of spammy 404 requests from filling up the cache filesystem during high-traffic periods.
