LiveWhale Calendar 3.1.0

This minor release removes the “beta” label and includes new CSV and widget features, bug fixes, and accessibility improvements across the board.

Easier widget access for calendar managers

Before now, the copy/paste embed code was only available to folks with widget editing permissions. Some schools set up their own custom pages to allow editors to get code for using widgets.

Starting with LiveWhale Calendar 3.1.0, widgets are visible from Toolbox > Widgets (including their “Get Code” links to copy/paste embed HTML) to all that group’s calendar managers, even if they don’t have permission to add/edit widgets. Global Widgets also appear (with &group=My Current Group automatically added to the embed code) for all users, though they’re only editable if you have the “edit global content” permission.

New email notifications

Coming out of conversations with LiveWhale Calendar community, we’ve added a few new email notifications. One is for “your submission has been published,” when something from a submission form is approved.

The others are optional RSVP notifications for Event Canceled, Event Deleted, RSVP Canceled, and RSVP Deleted—when you take any of those actions in the back-end, if RSVPs have been collected already you’ll get the chance to say “Cancel and notify” or “Cancel without notifying.”

Accessibility improvements

  • General 3.0 UI review for accessibility with updates and fixes across most interfaces, including beefing up screen-reader support for multisuggest selectors, Event Type Suggested Tags, Ingredients Editing, CSV imports, and more.
  • Added support for more accessible customizing of map pin locations with a MAP_ID configured from Google. [docs]

Behavior adjustments

  • 25Live feeds with “Event Type” custom fields are now automatically mapped to LiveWhale Event Type (CATEGORIES) if the names match.

Bugs

  • Fixed an issue affecting date and “show more” links on the calendar month view, now they correctly navigate to day view.
  • Addressed an issue when CSP headers prevent Google Charts from loading to degrade gracefully so other interactivity is preserved.
  • Fixed an issue affecting the importing of location CSVs using street address rather than latitude/longitude.
  • Fixed some issues with importing users via CSV.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent notification emails for submitted content from being sent.
  • Fixed an issue where events widgets could fail to load if their response (i.e. a “no results found”) message was in plaintext.
  • Fixed an issue with new images being uploaded as Decoration only to the image selection modal.
  • Fixed an image where a remote ATTACH image from a Linked Calendar feed could be erroneously overridden by a Group Default Image.
  • Fixed an issue where categories_campus and categories_audience weren’t rendering in events widgets.
  • Fixed an issue with Linked Calendars that used both “Send all links to original site” and external images via ATTACH where the image was being erroneously hidden from the Edit Event page.

Developer options

  • Added new format variable to the event detail component “subscription_pid” which returns the ID of the Linked Calendar this event is from, if any.

Behind-the-scenes

  • Moved front-end toolbar into shadow root to prevent CSS collisions with front-end theming.
