Exploration of Forms is a public workshop series that centers embodiment, transformation, and creativity. All workshops are free for students. Guests are encouraged to make a donation of $5–20 at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Please register at the bottom of this page to receive an email reminder one day in advance.

About This Workshop:

Visiting master teacher Sarah Victoria will lead a workshop in the Perdekamp Emotional Method (PEM), a trauma-informed acting technique designed to help performers evoke genuine emotion, consciously, through purely physiological access points. Participants will learn core PEM techniques and engage with each other in group improvisations and scores. PEM was developed in Germany to provide performers with a safe, reliable means to stretch their artistic horizons and craft emotionally authentic performance without sacrificing their wellbeing or mental health. PEM is now also being applied in therapeutic contexts. Dive into this workshop to claim your full range of emotional expressivity – you might surprise yourself!

About the Teacher:

Sarah Victoria, CEO and Director of Kalliso and PEM International, is the world’s foremost expert on the Perdekamp Emotional Method (PEM). She has over 20 years of experience teaching this groundbreaking methodology internationally and wrote her master’s thesis on PEM in 2004.

Sarah has introduced PEM at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UC Irvine, the University of Houston, and SMU Dallas, as well as the Actors Center New York and the Royal Society of Medicine in London. Specializing in performance development, audition preparation, and emotional health, Sarah has coached professional actors for major TV and film productions while also bringing PEM to diverse communities, including individuals with PTSD, ADHD, and autism. Another branch of her work is to cooperate with prisons and refugee centers.

Sarah is excited to be leading her first PEM workshop at UC Berkeley in March 2025, as part of her second major US workshop tour.
